March 14, 2019 President Petro Poroshenko laid off Egor Bozhka from office Chairman of the Foreign Intelligence Service. On the same day, by order of Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman, Yegor Bozhok was appointed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

In 2024, Yegor Bozhok featured in a criminal case on the appointment in 2018 of Sergei Semochko to the Foreign Intelligence Service by decree of the fifth president Petro Poroshenko. Poroshenko suspect in the fact that, being president at that time, he “by issuing an obviously criminal order” persuaded the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service Bozhok at that time to “exceed power and official authority.” On June 23, 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers suspended Egor Bozhka from exercising the powers of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
