Who Doesn’t Love a Good Book Turned into a Movie?
I am really excited to share with you a list of children’s books that are being made into movies this year. There are one or two in particular that I am pumped up about. I would love to hear from you, which one you are the most excited about. Let me know in the comment section below. Now for the list!
The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate
If you haven’t read The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate, then I strongly suggest you do. It is a wonderful book. You can read my review of it here. You can also watch the official book trailer for it below. Unfortunately, there is currently no movie trailer for this one yet, but you can watch the book trailer in the meantime.
The first book into movie on this list is The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate. While there is no trailer for this movie yet, you can check out the cast list and details about it here.
The release date is August 14, 2024
Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke
Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke is another great book that I am happy to announce is going to be displayed on screen. Once again, there is no trailer for this movie yet, but I expect there will be one soon.
The release date is August 6, 2024.
The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett
The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett is getting another remake. This one will feature Colin Firth (again) and Julie Walters. You can watch the official trailer below.
The release date is April 17, 2024.
The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street by Karina Yan Glaser
The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street by Karina Yan Glaser is the last book on this list. While there is very little information to suggest that this book is being adapted to the screen, I can give you two very tangible pieces of evidence. The first piece of evidence is the fact that the book was optioned by Amy Poehler of Paper Kite Productions back in August of 2018. More recently than this, the author of the Vanderbeeker books, Karina Yan Glaser shared a picture of herself on her instagram account with Amy Poehler. Also with them was Matt Murray, whom Karina wrote was the screenwriter for the Vanderbeekers.
With so little information about this project, you can probably guess that there is no trailer for this one. However, whether or not you have read The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street you meet the Vanderbeekers in this short video.
I hope you enjoyed reading this post about children’s books that are being adapted into movies. Which one are you most excited for? Please share your answer in the comment section below and visit again soon for more content like this.
Happy Reading & Writing!
