Sebastian Kurtz (German Sebastian Kurz) - Austrian politician, ex-Federal Chancellor of Austria. Minister for Foreign Affairs and Integration of Austria from 16 December 2013 to 18 December 2017 Chairman of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in 2017.
Place of Birth. Education. Sebastian Kurz was born on August 27, 1986 in Vienna, his mother is a teacher and his father is an engineer. He grew up in the 12th district of the city, Meidling, where he still lives. He entered the Bundesgymnasium und Bundesrealgymnasium Erlgasse in 1996 and after passing his final exam in 2004, Kurz completed his mandatory military service in 2004-2005. He then began studying law at the University of Vienna and was in his 13th semester when he was appointed Secretary of State for Integration in 2011.
Political career. Kurz became a member of the youth branch of the Austrian People's Party (ANP) at the age of 17, and at 23 he headed its Vienna committee. In 2009, he was elected chairman of the youth branch of the ANP. Between 2010 and 2011 he was a member of the city council of Vienna.
In April 2011, Kurz was appointed to the newly created position of Secretary of State for Integration (part of the Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior). In the 2013 Austrian general election, he was elected as a Member of Parliament.
On 16 December 2013, he became Austrian Foreign Minister in the second cabinet of Werner Faymann, whose portfolio was expanded at his request to include social integration functions. At the time of his oath, Sebastian Kurz was the youngest minister of the Austrian government since the founding of the republic, the youngest foreign minister in the European Union and around the world.
